During the Basic Carbine Course at @ravenadvisory students learn how to quickly zero their rifles by removing the bolt-carrier group and aligning the image of the target with the sight picture down range. @loftrick77 did this during the last course in Maxton, NC and was only a couple inches off from the bullseye at 25 meters.
Title should be, "how to quickly BORESIGHT your rifle"
I've done this. It helps to do it closer than 100 yards. 25-50 yards and then move back to confirm.
of you were good you'd be on paper at 100 yds
At 25 yards with a red dot you aught to be on paper anyway since there’s not much room for error. Red dots at close quarters. If you’re wanting to shoot groups get a lpvo or mpvo. Can you shoot distance with a dot? Yes but when you’re talking a dot is 3, 5, and 8 MOA. You’re gonna be silhouette shooting just like irons. Yes I know basic is 300-600 but that’s still just intended to send lead down range but you should be using the right tool for the job.
Now a scope this is great all day long. A chamber laser works better but this is the poor man’s method that’s stood the test of time.
Bore sighting. I did the same thing with my AR
Hoping the owner doesn’t have a bent barrel
Lol ok bruh
It 's a lot easier to use a laser bore sighter.
Works well. Also a $50 bore sight.
